Thanks for all the wonderful quotes. Please note that the NOIN site seems to be nonexistant. Sickened and disgusted by assassination of OBL. I am literally the only person I know who isn't jubilant. I wonder how many other people there are out there who are also horrified. It would be good to have an online "place" to discuss this "event" without being attacked as anti-American or a terrorist sympathizer. Bless you.

It is realy a good thing you are doing: the duty of enlightening us. May God bless you. I wish there was a broken down explanation of the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi. That is to elaborate on the application of the prayer in one's daily life. For example: what is despair, and how can i sow hope where there is despair? Thank you and have a wonderful day. Tom Bot.

A beautiful job in which you have done. This is proof positive that all our world needs is our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. His Love, through each of us would cure what ails this world where what was once good, is now bad and what was bad, is considered good. It is there, deep within all of us, if only we would dig down and pull it up. Be not of this world, but truly feel and use this love to heal the world. What a wonderful legacy for each of us to lead. We should never think that we can't change things because love has a domino effect that we may never see, but travels the distance to heal those we may never know. Love and peace go hand in hand so lets use them each day, in our small ways, to bring about huge changes. Love and peace to you all.

Does anyone remember Rodney King, circa 1990? Rodney was an alcoholic, and addicted to illegal drugs and, finally, we all saw him being severely beaten by the police in LA. When the ensuing riots broke out in protest to the video, he was interviewed on TV and uttered those profound words, "Why can't we all just get along?" It was true then, and it's true now: We must all get along for the sake of all humanity on earth. Can't we put our ego's aside, our, "My religion is the only one..." "All those people want is war," mentality? I remember the 1960s, and the War in Viet Nam, with all those people protesting that war - and then it was over - and the country had HOPE! We were all going to be "brothers!" (Collectively) What happened? Where is my brother now? What kind of world will I leave for my children and my grandchildren? And, what kind of a would am I leaving for YOUR children and your grandchildren? And, do you care? Peace to all who read this post, and peace to all who do not. Sally P

THANK YOU! The Peace Testimony speaks to my soul! If only the churches would do the same; I might then be persuaded to attend their services! I do, however, find one thing puzzling: "Another Short Story", on the last page, gives the impression that violence will change the minds of people! Surely what this anecdote was meant to convey would be the exact opposite, no? God bless! (Ms) E. C. Roy

Thanks for this website. Beautiful collection of thougts. After many years of study, I settled on a Chinese form of qigong as my spiritual path. It contains all these thoughts and has as its bedrock the search for Truth, Compassion, and Endurance. The main teachings are in a book called “Zhuan Falun”. Great thoughts, hard to put into practice. Hopefully, after years of meditation and devotional practice, the water will wear away the stone, and I can endure in the face of dying to the attachments of earthly life, while living in peace. Doing “men’s work” has also been helpful; discovering the lost tribal ways in which men related to one another in order to maintain peace amongst themselves within their communities has brought me a huge measure of joy and peace. That website is mkp.org This is an organization through which you’d spread peace like wildfire... Thanks again! Mark

Thank you for this site on Peace, both wide and deep. I am a Mennonite, a conscientious objector during the Korean war, who feels a deep affinity with the Society of Friends and the Church of the Brethren. I very much appreciated your inclusion of brief quotes about peace. I want to share this quote by Benjamin Hershey, an early Mennonite minister in Pennsylvania. After the events of this election in Ohio, I have felt devestated, as have many of my family and friends. A vote for Bush is a vote for war and a demonstration that a majority of people in this country feel that homosexual marriage is more of a sin than war and killing. I am looking for comfort for my feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, and I found comfort from these pages. My husband was a birthright Quaker. He is now deceased, but I know he would be able to comfort me, if he were here, because he was a Quaker, and a lover and maker of peace and harmony. Thank you.

An excellent and very inspirational page, and one which I've found particularly relevant in the light of the continuing war in Iraq and the murders of so many innocent schoolchildren in Beslan, North Ossetia (Russian republic) yesterday, by armed terrorists...God bless you, and keep up the good work.

What a wonderful collection regarding love and peace! I am in a peace ed class that meets at a Friends meeting house. I am grieved that the Quakers no longer acknowledge Jesus Christ as the early Quakers did. I have found that He is the door into the relationship with the Father God, Who would fill us with His Spirit, that we might have the indwelling power to overcome the evils of the flesh that keep us from love and peace within and towards all. It is a grievious thing that men proclaim to be His, and do not see how they blaspheme His name by their words and actions. It has caused many to doubt the reality of His presence. Until we realize that the work is not of us, but through the Spirit, as we yield to Him, our efforts will fail to bring redemption to our suffering world. I believe that there is a counterfeit spirit masquerading as the spirit of light that is deceiving men into thinking that they are gods, rather than men needing to be the habitation of God through the Spirit. Such pride will never produce true love and peace, as it is the very root of evil itself. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to express what is in my heart. Donna

Thank you for this site. I have been enjoying reading about Friends and their comments on peace. I have recently started working for a family who are all friends, and wanted to know a little bit more about their religion. As a member of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) I have been delighted to find so many similarities in our faiths. Again, thank you for sharing these thoughts on peace.

"that of god" in a person doesn't mean s/he's necessarily LIVING in the context OF that power. "that of god" is a term of potentiality.

Peace is something we all long for. As we now witness the destruction from the war against Iraq, we can see how destructive wars really are, once again. The destruction of the Museum and National Archives in Bagdad is the destruction of something we can never replace. It is our history, not just that of a people who chose to worship differently from us. As we wake up on this Easter morning, I wonder why the message has not yet penetrated the hearts and minds of man. Will we ever learn?

My name is Edmund Marco and it's a pleasure to sign your guest book. I work for an advertising agency in London. Our agency represents direct marketing companies that are involved in the marketing of products as seen on TV in England. Most of the infomercial products come from the U.S. but then again we export our talents as well. My brother has appeared in infomercials in the U.S. advertising various products. I think it's hilarious that English people respond so well to American products while Americans tend to respond well to sales people who have an English accent!

Thank you giving me more reason to seek peace in all I think, say and do. I pray more of our brothers and sisters find their own reasons to seek peace as well. We are blessed in knowing that peace WILL prevail on this planet; perhaps we will also be blessed in that it happens within our lifetime. Regardless, the outcome is never in doubt, and whatever we can do to further peace - is good. Thanks you for your "good" toward this end. Many of the thoughts expresses here I have seen individually before. After the events of 9/11/2001 and reading them all together they certainly have given me something to think about.
